WOULD YOU MAKE ROOM FOR ONE MORE HAND? KNOW SOMEONE WHO COULD USE HELP?
This summer our Foundation will place a few lucky teens on farms and ranches — or similar agricultural operations such as therapeutic riding centers, etc.
This will be our first placement of teens as part of a great experiment to see if we can leverage the power of our rural lifestyle to help teens struggling with demons they don’t understand, such as depression, anxiety disorder or mood issues.
But, 30 days from our deadline, we still need a few more individuals or families who want to help us make this dream possible, by demonstrating that our farm, ranch and agriculture families will step forward and make that empty guest room or seat in the pick-up available for a young person in need.
Our host families provide room, board, supervision and a safe, nurturing environment in return for lots of hard work and help from a 15-18 year-old teen. Their stay should ideally last for 8-10 weeks during summer school break, beginning around June 1st. We carefully screen our teen participants to maximize our chances of a very helpful, enjoyable and satisfying experience for both the teen and our host farm and ranch families.
If you can’t host one of our teens this summer, or later, do you have a neighbor, relative or friend who might? If so, would you post word of our search online, then forward this email to everyone you know who might do the same?
