Educational Services and Facility Manager

Koteewi Exterior Facility

Job Title: Educational Services and Facility Manager 

March 2026

Location: Noblesville, Indiana.
Position Type: Part-Time or Full-Time
Reports To: Senior Program Director 

Position Summary 

Consistent with the mission of the Foundation, the Educational Services and Facility Manager will play several primary roles: 

As the primary instructor of Career and Technical Education (CTE) coursework and lead hands-on work-based learning and educational programming for the Foundation, focused on animal care, horticulture, barn management, and agricultural career skills. CTE courses are offered at Koteewi Stables during the school year, Monday through Friday, beginning with the fall 2026 semester. 

This leader will supervise, mentor, and teach youth participating in all the Foundation’s programs onsite, and at partner facilities in the region, as needed, and will strive to maximize the integration of youth programs with the commercial stables business and the number of youths served. 

The Manager will have responsibility for the management of Koteewi Stable and Trails, a public horseback trail riding stable, located in Koteewi Park, Strawtown. The Stables are a subsidiary of the Foundation, which rents the facility from Hamilton County Parks and Recreation. The Stables served over 1000 customers in 2025, generating $100,000 in revenue, and is a key platform where youth clientele participate in small group and internship programs. Responsibilities include the management of 20-30 volunteers and paid, part-time employees, many of whom are seasonal. 

Serve as a highly visible spokesperson and representative of the organization with the Foundation’s via public, the youth we serve and their parent/guardians, the public who purchase our services, the governmental bodies who serve as our landlord, funding sources and collaborators, our donors, volunteers, and team members. This may include appearances and public speaking, networking, and hosting tours. 

Key Responsibilities 

The ideal candidate is very experienced with large animals through experience and/or educational training, passionate about youth development, and committed to safety and best practices.  

Instruction & Curriculum 

  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with CTE standards in Agriculture and Animal Science. Daily 1-3 M-F during the school year.  
  • Deliver work- and project-based learning experiences that mix classroom instruction with hands-on barn chores and activities. 
  • Evaluate student progress and adjust teaching approaches to meet diverse learning needs. 
  • Facilitate work-based learning tasks.  

Communications, Leadership, and Management 

  • Provide leadership and accountability to the team of volunteers and part-time employees, including training and regular individual interaction. 
  • Develop individuals to whom functions and roles can be delegated, creating adequate supervision during weekdays, evenings, and weekends. 
  • Create a positive culture and maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and character among the team members. 
  • Demonstrate character and a strong work ethic through actions and set an example for the youth and team members.  
  • Create and maintain a consistent recruiting program including identifying, hiring, and maintaining a dedicated team capable of meeting the needs of the organization. 
  • Be a steward of the organization’s financial resources through frugal practices and contribute to the marketing of the Foundation programs and Koteewi Stables offerings. 

Animal Care & Safety 

  • Model and teach safe, humane handling of large animals, including horses, minis, and other livestock. 
  • Oversee student activities in the barn and pastures to ensure safety and proper technique. 
  • Maintain high standards of animal welfare and follow the organization’s care protocols. 
  • Implement emergency procedures and risk management during all activities. 

Youth Development 

  • Build trust and rapport with youth, including those with emotional or behavioral challenges. 
  • Support student growth in confidence, communication, responsibility, and work readiness. 
  • Manage group behavior in outdoor, barn, and workshop environments. 
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere. 

Program & Nonprofit Support 

  • Assist with curriculum planning, program improvement, and grant documentation as needed. 
  • Collaborate with staff, volunteers, community partners, and caregivers. 
  • Help maintain barn equipment, tools, and animal spaces used during instruction. 
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and community events as/ if needed. 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • A bachelor’s degree  
  • An Indiana teaching license or similar certification in Agriculture, Animal Science, or related field, or extensive livestock experience within the last two years (or willingness to obtain a Workplace Specialist certificate).  
  • Experience working with large animals (horses, livestock, etc.) in a professional or educational setting. 
  • Ability to teach and lead hands-on activities safely and confidently. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with teens. 
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physical tasks. 
  • Background in work-based learning, farm operations, or veterinary/animal care pathways. 
  • Must be able to work evenings, weekends, or holidays on occasion. 
  • Candidates must pass a background check and be prepared to sign a liability waiver, a confidentiality agreement, and the organization’s code of conduct. 

Preferred    

  • Mental health training or experience 
  • Prior experience in agriculture, youth development, agricultural education, or barn management. 
  • Experience or knowledge of youth programs such as 4-H, FFA, or Scouts 
  • Nonprofit or community program experience 
  • Management experience 
  • Facility and equipment use and maintenance, including operating a trailer, tractor, 4X4, and most power tools 

Work Environment 

  • Barn, pasture, outdoor, and office settings with direct contact with animals. 
  • Includes moderate to heavy physical activity (lifting, walking, grooming, cleaning stalls, etc.). 
  • Most work takes place at the Koteewi facility. Some work from home or remote work is allowed where appropriate. 
  • Koteewi Stables remains open on some holidays. The Manager will be prepared to work during some holidays. 
  • The manager must maintain a personal vehicle for travel to and from work and off-site meetings.  Mileage will be reimbursed at the IRS rate. 

Compensation 

  • Hourly wage range $30 to $35 based on experience 
  • Paid time off 
  • Unpaid time off 
  • Bonus or performance-based compensation will be considered 
  • Reimbursement of pre-approved out-of-pocket expenses. 
  • No other benefits are available now.
